TOP 5 | Living Walls + EAV Block Party

This Saturday, East Atlanta Village is partnering up with public art collective Living Walls for the ’hood’s biggest block party to date. They’ve covered all the bases: tons of art, flowing drinks, local vendors, live music and more. If you’re still not convinced, here’s more on why this event is can’t-miss:

1. Get up close and personal to new works: Mega-talented artists like JD Koth, Knitterati, Molly Rose Freeman and Christoper Derek Bruno will be unveiling fresh murals and installations for your viewing pleasure via a guided tour from noon to 5pm.

2. Drink specials galore: From 5pm to midnight, EAV’s bars and restos will be serving up extra-cheap libations—including Graveyard Tavern, Midway Pub, Elder Tree, Argosy and Tomatillos. Bless them.

3. CRAFTS!: A good party always includes crafts (and I don’t mean that sarcastically). Peruse the artist market at Midway from noon to 6pm (along with a crafts table to keep the kiddos busy), as well as a pop-up shop starting at 5pm.

4. See art in action at So Ba: Head to the resto that moonlights as the Octopus Bar at midnight to see a metal sculpture being created using the “iron pour” technique, which sounds face-melty in a way that is awesome and also maybe literal depending on how close you’re standing to the action.

5. Live music: 529 will have performances by Moodrings, Empress Of and Moon King starting at 10pm; “Gurlfrandz,” the weekly drag show at Mary’s, kicks off at 10:30pm; then it’s back to 529 for their after-party with DJ Sam Holloway at 1am. There will also be a ~*secret show*~ at an undisclosed location.

Party time? Excellent. Find more info about the event here.
