Vouched ATL, one of our favorite promoters of small press lit, is turning one! To celebrate, they’re throwing a big ol’ birthday bash at the Goat Farm this Wednesday at 7PM (event details here). Below, we give you the top five things that make this a can’t-miss shindig.
+ It’s Two-For-One: Support literature and the arts in kill-two-birds fashion by checking out inventive sculptor Duncan Shirah’s Tools exhibit, which opens the same night in The Goat Farm’s Warhorse.
+ Do the Right Thing: What’s better than partying for a good cause? Nothing. (Maybe donuts.) All donations and raffle ticket proceeds will be split between WINK, a “project-based creative writing workshop for Atlanta’s kid authors,” and Wren’s Nest Publishing Co., a nonprofit organization allowing “Atlanta-area high school students to produce a kick-ass literary journal.”
+ Treat Yo’ Self: While the event is free, you’ll want to bring some cash for things like a King of Pops pop, some Good Food Truck deliciousness, alcohol, t-shirts and awesome books to take home.
+ Rub Writerly Elbows: Some of Atlanta’s best, brightest and brashest writers (think VICE’s Blake Butler, OhmPark’s Davy Minor, Creative Loafing’s Melysa Martinez and so many more) will take the stage for brief readings written by the youngsters at WINK and Wren’s Nest.
+ Prizes (SO MANY PRIZES): We saved the best for last. Vouched has been posting their sweet raffle prizes on Twitter for the last few weeks. They include a year-long Goat Farm pass, a $100 Memorial Tattoo gift certificate (!!!), a Wren’s Nest tour for friends and family, tickets to Dad’s Garage and more. Plus, every $5 donated or spent on Vouched, Wren’s Nest or WINK wares gets you a ticket.
Event Details: Head to the Goat Farm around 7pm on Wednesday, July 18th to celebrate.
